Kristen was intimidated at first to learn a safe method for transferring a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic on her own. As her husband’s primary caregiver, she had to learn. “I would have never thought it possible to do a transfer like this by myself,” Kristen says. Now, she made a video she wished she had seen when her husband was first injured.

In her fast-forwarded video of the process, watch how she transfers her husband from his chair to his bed. This includes removing some parts of the chair, disconnecting the ventilator and getting her husband in the harness which is used with a ceiling lift that allows Kristen to have him safely lifted into bed. Once in bed, she reconnects him to the ventilator and removes the carrier harness. Ta da!
