Angela is a quadriplegic who was injured at the age of fifteen. She discusses how her friendships changed post spinal cord injury.
“It was important to (my friends) that they learned and included me.”
Angela states that she was lucky because her friends stuck by her side after she became injured. It was important to Angela’s friends that they learn about her injury and still include her in activities.
Angela transferred into her friend's vehicles and they would drive her places. Her friends always made sure she was involved in social events.
Angela says a big bonus to her injury was making friends with other people with disabilities through adaptive sports.
Angela was a counselor at an Easter Seals camp for people with disabilities in college. She found that being around other people with disabilities was an enjoyable experience.
