Vicki

Tell me a little about yourself and your background.

My name is Vicki Landers, I'm the President & CEO of Disability Pride Philadelphia Inc., with over 20 years’ experience in management, finances, and customer service. Prior to DPP Inc., I spent 5 years as an owner/operator of Independence EDGE Studio. EDGE was an accessible artist studio with an emphasis on people with disabilities.

I now work in nonprofit management, fundraising, and event planning. DPP Inc. specializes in FUN, accessible, inclusive events that teach disability pride, self advocacy, and intersectionality.

I'm no stranger to social barriers. I spent years with undiagnosed Bipolar and Anxiety Disorder, and a learning disability. I now live with an ever-growing list of disabilities and she advocates for civil rights for disabled people, Medicare for all, and other important issues surrounding disabled people.

How did you find out about Ablethrive.com and #ThriveWorldwide?

Alanna Raffel introduced me to your organization last year.

If this isn’t your first meetup, what brings you back to this campaign to participate again?

I support AbleThrive and your mission, and believe it falls in line with our mission.

Why did you decide to be a #ThriveWorldWide host?

We both put on an event celebrating International Day for PWD so it makes sense to join your global event.

Which partner organization are you representing? (If applicable)

Disability Pride Philadelphia Inc.

What does it mean to live life to the fullest?

Living your way, how you want it, where you want to, and being independent (whatever that means to you).

What do you plan for your #ThriveWorldwide meetup? What do you hope will happen at the meetup?

We want to see the whole community, our friends, families, and allies.
