Achieve Australia provides people with intellectual disabilities with supports and resources to learn independent living skills and maximize their potential.

“In my role as a social educator, I get to see people triumph in their lives.”

The young man in the video is working on building his confidence in speaking to people. Glenn, a social educator for Achieve Australia, states he tries to integrate literacy independence into life skills. For example, Glenn provides guidance to the young man to order a meal by himself, to pay for it himself and make the decisions about what and when he wants to eat independently. The young man says he likes sausages and chips!

“In my role as a social educator, I get to see people triumph in their lives. I get to see their smiles. I get to see all of their successes and I love seeing the way we are able to empower them,” says Glenn.
