Kristin McNealus, physical therapist, offers one simple diet tip that can benefit everyone (especially people with spinal cord injuries.) Her diet tip is to avoid soda and drink more water.

Kristin states water helps with the digestion of food and the regulation of body temperature.

“It is recommended that people with spinal cord injuries drink 64 oz. of water per day.”

Drinking more water reduces the risk of urinary tract infections and kidney stones. Besides healthy bladder management, drinking water can also assist with an individual’s bowel program.

Kristin suggests adding freshly squeezed fruit juice to make water taste better!
