What started out as a family activity turned into Theresa representing Singapore in the National Paralympic Swimming Team.
Theresa really enjoyed swimming—it gave her a sense of freedom. When Theresa was 12 years old, she went swimming with her dad. As she was swimming, “One of the volunteers from the Singapore Disability Sports Council saw me swimming and told my dad that he thought that I had a lot of potential,” she remembers. He suggested she participate in the upcoming national competition and her parents were ready to throw her into the opportunity.
Her parents constantly supported her and over the years. Theresa has won many medals and eventually joined the National Disability Team. “It’s quite amazing to see how far we’ve grown”, she says.
